Your data
Privacy policy
Effective 11 October 2026
Soulmate is your personal AI assistant, paired with your own private server. This policy covers the app and this website, including the Google connection coming soon.
1. Contact
Soulmate is run by its operator, “we” in this policy. For privacy questions, support, or requests to disconnect accounts or delete data, contact us at jneaimi@tridenits.com. This is also the support email for Soulmate’s Google app.
2. What Soulmate handles
Chats, voice notes and files
Your messages, relevant chat history and memories go through OpenRouter to the AI models used for your chosen features. Photos and documents, or their extracted text, go to models to answer you and file them for later use. Your server removes location metadata from photos.
Voice recordings go to ElevenLabs for transcription, or through OpenRouter to the selected transcriber. The transcript becomes message text. ElevenLabs’ transcript copy is deleted after your server saves it, and its transcription setting does not use recordings for AI training. App voice recordings stay on your server until kept, deleted or expired.
Memories, reminders and follow-ups
Soulmate uses messages to learn facts and preferences and to recall them in later conversations. Memories, reminders and follow-ups are kept on your server. A promise you choose to keep from WhatsApp becomes a follow-up; dismissing the card leaves no follow-up. Today and the morning brief help you catch up. With your consent, the brief reads WhatsApp at the time you set.
Web tasks and searches
Kernel provides the cloud browser for web tasks. It sees the pages and what Soulmate types. Page text goes through OpenRouter to the model. You sign in on Kernel’s page: your password goes to the website through Kernel and does not reach Soulmate or the model. Kernel keeps the signed-in session until you remove the site in Settings → Saved logins.
Web searches send queries through OpenRouter to Parallel. Queries may include details from your question. OpenRouter’s zero-retention setting does not cover web search.
If you link WhatsApp, your server keeps messages in both directions, contact and chat details, and voice transcripts to help you find conversations, see what needs you and track promises. Soulmate reads WhatsApp; it never sends messages there. Voice audio is fetched for transcription and is not kept on your server. Photos and documents are fetched when needed and only after the message passes screening.
Before an AI model reads a message, TypeSafe’s Jev checks its text, the chat type, whether the sender is a contact and up to five earlier messages. Sender labels do not include names or phone numbers, and long numbers are masked. Held or blocked messages do not reach the chat model unless you release a held message. TypeSafe hasn’t said how long it keeps them, so we assume up to 30 days.
Notifications and service records
Your server stores the phone’s push token and sends notifications through Expo and Apple or Google. WhatsApp pushes show a sender’s saved name and why it matters, never the message itself. The name passes through those services. The server also keeps usage records for spending and billing, and audit records for service actions.
3. Storage and retention
Your chats, memories, files and service records stay on your own Soulmate server. Each owner’s server runs on a machine rented from Contabo, in its data centre in Mumbai, India, or in Singapore. Chat history stays on your server while you use Soulmate. Usage records are kept for billing.
We encrypt nightly database backups and kept-file backups before they leave your server. Each owner has their own Cloudflare R2 bucket. We hold the backup decryption key. Database backups retain the 14 newest copies and a monthly copy for the latest 3 months. Deleted memories leave your server immediately and backups within 3 months. Deleting a memory stops models reading the exchange it came from, but the exchange remains visible in the chat.
Unkept files expire after 30 days by default. You can choose 7, 30 or 90 days in Settings → Files. Kept files stay until you delete or unkeep them. Unkeeping starts the expiry window again. Deleting or unkeeping a kept file removes its separate encrypted backup copy; failed backup deletions are retried. Deleting voice audio does not remove the transcript from the chat.
WhatsApp messages stay for 12 months by default; you can choose 3, 12 or 24 months. Backups may retain deleted messages for up to 3 months longer. You can skip chats, delete stored messages, or unlink and delete messages together. Unlinking alone keeps messages until their retention window ends.
Finished web tasks and attention records are deleted after 90 days. Finished one-off reminders are deleted 30 days after their last push.
4. Services that process data
- OpenRouter and its AI model providers: chat, memory, files, transcription, searches and web tasks. Each OpenRouter model request uses zero-retention routing to providers that neither retain nor train on the request. Web searches through Parallel and TypeSafe’s checks are outside that setting. Your app’s consent names the companies for your selected models and asks before adding another.
- ElevenLabs: voice transcription, as described above.
- Kernel: web browsing and saved sign-ins.
- Parallel: web-search queries.
- TypeSafe: Jev screening of WhatsApp messages and, in the email feature coming soon, email.
- WhatsApp: linked-device connection and message and media delivery.
- Nylas and Google: the connected Google accounts coming soon, described below. Nylas operates this connection in its EU region.
- Expo, Apple and Google: push notification delivery.
- Contabo: hosting your server in Mumbai, India, or Singapore.
- Cloudflare R2: encrypted backups.
5. Our commitments and protection
We don’t sell your data. Soulmate shows no ads and doesn’t use your data for advertising. We don’t use your data to train AI models. Model requests through OpenRouter use zero data retention; web searches through Parallel and TypeSafe’s checks are outside it.
No person reads your data except you. We run your server and hold the backup key; we look at your data only when you ask us for help with something specific, to keep the service secure, or when the law requires it.
Connections to your server use HTTPS. Your server accepts only your paired phone for access to your data and stores only a hash of its token. Backups are encrypted before they leave your server. Each server’s Google keys reach only its own owner’s accounts.
6. Google user data
Connecting Google accounts is coming soon. This section describes how it will work.
You can connect up to 3 Google accounts, personal or work, through Nylas in its EU region. A work account connects only if its administrator permits it.
| Permission | What it allows and why |
|---|---|
openid | Identify the Google account you connect. |
userinfo.email | Read your account email address to identify the connection. |
userinfo.profile | Read basic profile information to identify the connected account. |
gmail.readonly | Read email for search, finding what needs you and the morning brief. Soulmate never sends, deletes, archives, labels or changes email. |
calendar.events | Read calendar events for your agenda, reminders, conflicts and meeting prep. This scope also grants write access. The calendar plan allows creating, moving or cancelling events only after you approve the exact change. |
contacts.readonly | Read contacts through the same Google connection. This does not grant contact editing. |
What we read and why
Soulmate reads Gmail’s Primary and Updates categories. Promotions, Social and Forums are skipped. You can skip senders and labels, or add a skipped sender or label back, in Settings → Email & calendar. Soulmate never sends, deletes, archives, labels or changes email in Gmail.
Email helps with search, finding what needs a reply and the morning brief. TypeSafe’s Jev screens each new email before a model reads it; held and blocked emails do not go to a model. One-time codes and sign-in emails are marked when they arrive and never reach a model. Email becomes a follow-up only when you choose Keep and does not automatically become a fact in Memory.
Calendar events help with your agenda, reminders, conflicts and meeting prep. Soulmate creates, moves or cancels an event only after you approve the exact change. Contacts help Soulmate know who the people emailing you are, by the names you saved.
Storage and sharing
Google data received by Soulmate is kept on your own server. Each email’s text stays for 30 days; its sender, subject and labels stay for 12 months. When you ask about older text, Soulmate reads it from Gmail through Nylas. Deleted email leaves backups within 3 months.
Nylas processes Google data to provide the connection, in its EU region. TypeSafe checks email for safety and triage. For the features you use, passed email and relevant calendar data go through OpenRouter to AI providers to answer you or write a brief. Model requests use zero data retention; TypeSafe’s checks are outside it.
We don’t sell Google user data or use it for advertising. We never use it to train generalized AI or machine-learning models. No person reads your Google user data except you. We run your server and hold the backup key; we look at your Google user data only when you ask us for help with something specific, to keep the service secure, or when the law requires it.
Disconnecting and deletion
In Settings → Email & calendar, you will be able to disconnect an account. Your server stops reading it and deletes its key, and Nylas deletes the connection. You choose whether your server deletes the emails it kept from that account at once or keeps them for their normal time.
You can also remove Soulmate in your Google Account, under Security → Your connections to third-party apps & services. Until the in-app control exists, ask us to disconnect your account by emailing jneaimi@tridenits.com.
Soulmate's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
7. Your choices and leaving
You can see, edit and delete memories in Settings → Memory. In Files, you can view, keep, change titles and notes, or delete files. You can remove saved website logins, unlink WhatsApp, delete its stored messages, and turn phone notifications off. For Google connections, use the steps above.
When your service ends, we delete your server and its data. We keep your encrypted backups and saved website sign-ins in case you need your server restored. We delete them when you leave for good or ask us to.
8. This website
This static website uses no JavaScript, cookies, analytics or external fonts, scripts or images. Its web server can record requests in standard access logs.
9. Adults
Soulmate is for adults.
10. Changes
We update this policy whenever Soulmate starts using data in a new way. The effective date above identifies this version. We ask for your consent before starting a new use that requires it.
